Disappearing Poem
17 September, 2013 by Matthew Greene
Matt's sidewalk poetry.
(Careful. It moves fast.)
Loose Change
In a hat and coat the street paled
and fogged. Moon and sunlight at once.
The homeless at rest like open caskets.
Beards and bellies. Pregnant bellies empty.
Grease and gutter water bath rashes. A prayer
with a cherry. Big sky and nothing nowhere
in it. Eyes open and closed and unseeing.
Shelved. Tolerated crimes of passersby.
Begging for nourishment. Begging for change.
